The Department of Defense has just approved research funding for 3D printing meals. This is going to take a lot of research because while the 3D printer can take liquids and powders and transform them into intricate shapes, it’s not clear if can mold solids like carrots and beets. What happens to the nutritional value of the food once it’s 3D printed?
The technology does have potential to revolutionize how our troops are fed. Food could be created for each soldier depending on their nutritional needs.
